Charlottetown
Charlottetown primarily has Neptune T-10 residential meters but there are still some Elster meters installed. Both meters are basically read the same except the register readings and low flow indicators are in a different location. The register reading is on the front of each meter and located on the top for the Neptune and on the bottom for the Elster. The low flow indicator is a small triangle located on the front of the meter. It is located to the left (between .07 and .08) on the Neptune meter and in the center on the Elster meter. The low flow indicator will move when even the smallest amount of water is passing through the meter and is used to identify leaks.
The Neptune meter accurately measures the water you use in litres and cubic metres (m3). Your water bill is calculated on the number of cubic metres used in a billing cycle. As the water passes through the meter, the sweep hand moves around the dial. Each complete revolution of the dial equals 100 litres of water or 0.1 cubic metres.
Stratford
Stratford residents have a Neptune Mach 10 water meter. It is an Ultrasonic Smart Meter that has no moving parts that might wear over time and cause inaccurate readings. It is guaranteed to be accurate for its lifecycle and has a guaranteed 20-year battery life. The Mach 10 water meter was selected because of its reading accuracy and its user-friendly attributes.
To turn on the meter simply open the cover and shine a light on the meter face. The meter is designed to always protect the battery life. Once the light is not detected, the meter will power down the screen. Please keep the cover closed to help maintain battery life when you are not observing the meter.
The meter interface has a NINE digit number, comprised of FIVE numbers on the left of the decimal and FOUR numbers on the right. The FIVE numbers on the left represent cubic meters, while the first THREE numbers on the right represent litres. Note that the last digit on the right represents 10ths of a litre.
1 cubic meter = 1000 liters
If you have a meter reading of 00,061.7201 it is equal to 61 cubic meters + 720 litres + 1/10th of a litre
OR 61,720.1 litres
